Boyne CS secured their first Leinster schools soccer title on Wednesday in Tullamore defeating Strokestown C.S on a scoreline of 3-1.
The North-East Leinster title holders dominated the opening period and got their reward after 14 minutes when some great individual attacking play from Ciaran McDonnell teed up James Clarke to finish to the roof of the net.
Boyne continued to impress in the first half and they doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time. Again McDonnell and Clarke combined for Clarke's second goal of the half.
After the restart Strokestown came back into the game, and only for a great combined save and goal line clearance from Conall Bird and Dean Rowlands, the scoreline remained at 2-0.
Strokestown finally got their breakthrough after 45 minutes when a long distance free-kick evaded the Boyne defence and goalkeeper to nestle in the corner. That goal proved to be Strokestowns last chance as Boyne finished the game the stronger and a well struck free kick from Josh Costello secured the win for Boyne in the 51st minute.
The Trim school kept possession well and could have scored again towards the end of the game as they seen out an impressive victory.
