Boyne Community School strives to provide a significant benefit in the educational, intellectual, cultural and social development of students by offering students a chance to partake in tours around Ireland and abroad. The slopes of the Pyrenees was the most recent destination for our school ski trip. The students stayed in Campus Cerdanya in the picturesque Spanish town of Puigcerdà. In perfect conditions, under a blue Catalonian sky, three actionpacked days of skiing were enjoyed in both French and Spanish ski resorts. Other recent school tours have included: educational tours to Germany and France and a History trip to Northern Ireland.
During the Easter holidays pupils from third, fifth and sixth year enjoyed a fascinating History trip to both Berlin and Krakow. In Berlin pupils got to see the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag and the Olympic Stadium – built for the 1936 Olympic Games hosted by Hitler’s Nazi Germany. In Krakow there was a visit to the haunting and powerful Auschwitz as well as the UNESCO World Heritage site the Wieliczka Salt Mines.
